Recycling At Its Finest

Most of us grew up recycling our cans and paper goods, but did you know that you can recycle your jewelry? It is kind of a weird way of looking at it, but it is true. You can recycle your jewelry, or restyle your jewelry into a piece you will wear every day.

When you look in your jewelry box, you probably see multiple pieces that have been sitting there for years. Most of those pieces have great meaning to you, which is why they are still there, but they probably aren’t style you like to wear, which again, is why they are still sitting there!  There are multiple benefits to using your current jewelry to create something new.

·       When we take the gemstones out of the pieces you have and set them into a new setting, you keep the meaning and sentiment of those pieces and gain a style you love to wear, as well. 

·       You can pass them on to the next generation. For example, I had a client who had a ring from her father. He had passed away before his great granddaughters were born, and when the girls were older, she had the diamonds turned into stud earrings for them.  The man they heard about all their life now became a bit more real to them when they wore their earrings. 

·       The gold or platinum that your gemstones used to be in can be sold for cash to help pay for your new piece. The metal is melted down and put back into the market in various ways. 

·       You don’t have to hold back. As women, sometimes we hold back on the jewelry we really want because we have pieces in our jewelry box, even though we aren’t wearing them.  You can feel good about not wasting what you have and turning it into jewelry that makes your heart happy! 

Jewelry restyling is recycling at its finest because nothing is lost or wasted! You have gemstones to create something new and gold or platinum to help pay for it.  I say it is a win-win!
