Most of us know that adopting new trends, fashion, technology, etc. falls into three major categories – early adopters, the bold few who start it right away; mid-adopters, the majority of us who jump on the bandwagon as it gains momentum; and the late adopters, those who wait till everyone is doing it before they try it out. It has been a few years since I first saw these jewelry trends among men as early adopters, but it is now moving towards the mid-adopter category.
· Pearl Strands for Men: Yes, men of all masculinity range are wearing pearl strands! I have seen them wear it with a nice collard shirt, a suit and jacket (minus the tie), and smaller pearl sized strands with a t-shirt. Harry Styles began wearing a pearl strand in 2019, and since then, we have seen Pharell Williams, LeBron James, and Shaun Mendez all wearing pearl strands. But men wearing pearls is not a new idea. As early as 2300 B.C., royal men have been wearing pearls all over the world as a symbol of power and protection.

· Brooches: Men wearing suit jackets and sport coats are adorning their chests with brooches! There is a wide variety of the style of brooches making them a chic way to show off a man’s personality and interests. I have seen an ice cream cone brooch that was made up of different gemstones. A very masculine, flattened bullet shaped brooch from Gold and Smoke with blackened silver and 18kt yellow gold. The animal ones are very fun and unique, too. I have seen a t-rex make out of opal, gold, and diamonds from Parle Gems, and a lizard made up of Alexandrites from Omi Prive.

It has been very fun to see men in jewelry making a come-back in the last 20 years, and I say come-back because men have been wearing jewelry since the dawn of time. It has never been a just a female fashion. If you watch any baseball game, the players are wearing gold chains, male artists are using jewelry to make a statement, and business men are wearing jewelry to express themselves and not get lost a sea of ties.
